My mission at CLEVERSCENE is to create cleverly crafted handbags using the best upcycled garments. I challenge myself to incorporate the elements of the original garment while maintaining a clean and stylish design. When you look at a CLEVERSCENE bag you'll notice that the original pockets, buttons and zippers have been carefully crafted into the finished bag. It's the subtleness of the design that makes it so clever and fun to discover.
Rescue
My "raw" material is cast off clothing - men's suits, designer jeans, silk scarfs and neck ties. I search for quality materials that are beautiful, well made, and durable. This ensures that each custom handbag is unique and stylish.
Imagine
This is the really fun part. This is where my brain runs wild and I think of ALL the possibilities, however crazy or impossible. First I sketch the idea, then transfer the drawing to a paper pattern and prototype. It takes several iterations of a design to work out all the kinks.
Liberate
Every garment is waiting to begin it's new life. Maybe they were always meant to be handbags, they just needed a little creative vision and serious reconstructing! After taking the garments apart, the patterns are cut out and each piece is steam cleaned and prepped for their new and improved life as handbags.
Create
So maybe this is the really fun part. Each piece of outdated clothing is recycled into something new and useable. That's really cool.
